The Matawa Education Department provides educational support services for seven Matawa community schools; (Aroland, Eabametoong, Nibinamik, Long Lake #58, Ginoogaming, Neskantaga, and Webequie First Nations). Our role is to support any educational initiatives that result in school improvements and that positively impact on the quality of education provided for students. Supporting the local education authorities, and networking with Aboriginal organizations, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, the Provincial Ministry of Education, School Boards, and Post Secondary and Secondary / Elementary institutions is an important responsibility of the Matawa Education Advisor. Adult education and training are also a focus of this department.
