Neskantaga Education Centre

Located in Neskantaga First Nation, Neskantaga Education Centre is a modern facility with 6 classrooms and programming for students from JK to Grade 8. First Nation teachers and community members work together to provide cultural awareness and daily instruction in Oji-Cree. Regular classroom teachers work diligently as part of the team to provide enriched student-centred activities that are geared towards developing the students holistically and promoting success among all learners. The school has an outstanding Special Education program, a gymnasium, a computer lab and library/resource centre.

Student body is approximately 75 students in elementary school and 10 students in high school
Description (Service) Operates an on-reserve school for elementary students from the community 

Offers a full curriculum for students from JK-Grade 8  
Teaches Native language as a subject course  
Provides supervised extra-curricular activities 
Participates in the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) Canada Program which provides laptops and tablets to children aged 6-12 years in the school as a learning tool 
Offers a week of cultural activities and programs in the spring and a week in the fall

Special Education  

Provides special education assistance for students with learning difficulties 
Strives for maximum amount of integration with regular programs
