Post-Secondary Program

Our program provides Post-Secondary Administration for students from the following First Nations: Aroland, Ginoogaming, Long Lake # 58, Neskantaga, and Webequie First Nations. Non-Financial Services are available to other Matawa First Nation students upon request The Matawa Post-Secondary Program offers ongoing services or assistance to students in the areas of: Social & academic counselling Course/Program selections Resource information Orientation Post Secondary preparation (meet with grade 12) Direct Deposit (banking/payment distribution services) Referrals Tutoring Application process College/University Visits For more information, or to access any of these services please e-mail Georgette O’Nabigon, Post Secondary Program Coordinator. ACCOUNTABILITY AND COLLABORATION The Matawa Post Secondary Program was designed to ensure that individual First Nations have positive input in decision-making, effective control and efficient use of funding, with student accountability for their own people’s educational future.  To achieve this accountability, a monitoring system has been established that enables the student, post secondary counsellor and their community to work together in assisting them to graduate within the required time.

PASS Program

PASS Program Pathways to Achieve Student Success (PASS) is an exciting new education initiative involving eight Matawa First Nation schools. With funding provided through Aboriginal Affairs Canada’s First Nation Student Success Program (FNSSP) has three primary target areas:

Learning Centre

Learning Centre The Matawa Learning Centre is a private First Nations High School serving the students of the five remote Matawa communities of Neskantaga, Webequie, Marten Falls, Nibinamik and Eabametoong. We provide assistance to students with:
